1. Who we are
Jannah Streaks (the app, the web app at jannahstreaks.com/app and this website) is made and run by Checkmate Technologies (Pvt) Ltd (checkmatetechnologies.net), referred to here as “we”. We decide why and how your data is used, which makes us the “controller” of it.
2. In short
- We collect what is needed to run the app: your account, your prayers, dhikr and streaks, your friends and groups, and what you choose to add (such as a phone number or period dates).
- The free app shows ads through Google AdMob. Google may use your device’s advertising ID and other device information to show and measure ads. What you record in the app (prayers, cycle, messages) is never used to target ads.
- We use Google Firebase for crash reports, usage numbers and speed measurement. You can switch this off in Settings.
- We do not sell your personal data.
- Your cycle information, phone number and chosen city are private. Other people never see them.
- Children join with a parent’s approval, see no ads, and cannot chat or be found by others.
- You can delete your account and its data yourself, in the app or on the web.
3. What we collect
Information you give us, and what the app records when you use it:
| Data | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Account details: name, email address, username, gender, password (stored only as a one-way hash), time zone, language | To create and secure your account, show your name to friends, tailor features (such as the cycle tracker for women) and work out prayer times in your time zone. We email a one-time code to confirm your address. |
| Phone number (optional) | Only if you add one. It is private, is not verified and is not used for ads or shared with other users. |
| Your character: the avatar options you pick | It is your profile picture. |
| Prayer and worship activity: which prayers you mark done or missed, Qada, post-prayer adhkar, dhikr counts, trips you record, Qur’an and Hadith bookmarks and progress, daily streaks and Jannah points | To run the features you use and keep your streaks. |
| Your city (that you choose in Prayer settings), saved as coordinates and a name, plus your calculation method | To calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction. We do not read your phone’s GPS location. |
| Cycle information (optional): period start and end dates | To predict your cycle and to pause Salah, protect your streak and avoid adding Qada while you are excused. See section 9. |
| Friends, groups and messages: friend connections, the groups you join or create, your contributions and the messages you send in a group | To provide friends, dhikr groups with chat and Namaz streak groups. Group members can see your name, character, streak and messages. |
| Jannah coins: your balance and a list of how coins were earned and spent | To run coins, large and public groups, and to keep a record that explains your balance. |
| Notifications and your device’s push token | To show your notifications and to reach your phone when the app is closed. We also keep the app language so a message is written in it. |
| Support messages | To read and answer what you send us. |
| For children: a parent’s email address, and the child’s name, username, gender and character | To send the approval request, let the parent manage the account, and keep the two linked. See section 8. |
4. Collected automatically
- Crash reports and diagnostics (Firebase Crashlytics): the type of device and Android version, app version, what the app was doing when it failed, and an anonymous installation ID. We tag reports with your account number, never your name, email or phone number.
- Usage numbers (Firebase Analytics): screens opened, how often the app is used, and the device model, language and country. This tells us what to improve.
- Speed (Firebase Performance): how long the app takes to start and how long calls to our server take. Web addresses are recorded without anything you typed.
- Ads (Google AdMob): the advertising ID, IP address and device information, handled by Google (see section 5).
- Server records: like most services, our server records your IP address and requests briefly for security, to stop abuse and to fix problems.
You can switch off crash reports, usage numbers and speed measurement at any time in Settings → Help us fix problems.
5. Ads and your data
The free app is supported by advertising. We show native ads inside the app and optional rewarded videos that you can choose to watch to earn Jannah coins or to protect a streak.
- Ads are provided by Google AdMob. Google and its partners may use your device’s advertising ID, IP address, device and app information, and your approximate location from the IP address to choose, show and measure ads and to prevent fraud. Depending on your region and your choices this can include personalised ads.
- Where the law requires it (for example the EU, UK and some US states) we ask for your consent before ads are requested, and you can change your choice later under Settings → Ad privacy choices where it is shown.
- We limit ads to content suitable for everyone (rating “G”), because this is a religious app.
- What you record in Jannah Streaks (prayers, dhikr, cycle dates, friends, messages) is not shared with advertisers and is not used to target ads.
- Children see no ads and cannot watch rewarded videos.
- You can reset or turn off personalised ads in your phone’s own settings (Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads, or Settings → Google → Ads). To learn how Google uses data from apps that use its services, see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and Google’s Privacy Policy.
6. How we use data
- To provide the app: prayer times, streaks, Qada, adhkar, the Qibla compass, groups, chat, notifications, the daily dua or ayah and coins.
- To verify email addresses, keep accounts secure, prevent abuse and enforce our Terms.
- To send you notifications you ask for, and necessary service emails (verification codes, approval requests for children). We do not send marketing email.
- To fix bugs, measure performance and improve the app.
- To show ads that keep the app free (section 5).
- To answer your messages and meet legal obligations.
7. Who we share with
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with the people you choose to share with (section 10) and with companies that help us run the service, who may use it only for that purpose:
| Provider | What for |
|---|---|
| Google (Firebase and AdMob) | Crash reports, usage numbers, speed measurement, push delivery and ads |
| Brevo (email delivery) | Sending verification codes and parent approval emails (your email address and the message) |
| Our hosting provider | Running our servers and database |
| Open-Meteo and OpenStreetMap Nominatim | Turning the city name you type into coordinates (only the city and country are sent) |
| Qur’an and Hadith text providers | Text of the Qur’an, translations and the daily ayah (only a verse number or edition is requested) |
| Google Fonts | The app may download its fonts from Google, which sees your IP address |
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect people’s safety, or as part of a sale or reorganisation of our business (you would be told).
8. Children
Jannah Streaks is for everyone, including children who do not have an email address. A child can ask to join by giving a username, a password and a parent’s email address. We email the parent, and the account is only created when the parent approves it, from the link in the email or in the app.
- A child account collects only a name, username, gender, character, time zone and the worship activity the child records. It has no email or phone number.
- No ads, no rewarded videos and no usage analytics are used for child accounts. Crash reports (which contain no personal details) stay on so we can fix problems.
- A child cannot search for people, make friends, join groups or chat, and other people cannot find them.
- The parent can set a new password, pause or resume the account, and ask for it to be deleted, at any time (Settings → Family). Parents who have not yet created their own account can do so with the same email and the child is linked to them.
- An unanswered request expires after 7 days.
- If you believe a child joined without a parent’s permission, or you are a parent who wants a child’s data deleted, contact us (section 17) and we will act promptly.
9. Private and sensitive data
- Cycle data is optional, is shown only to you, and is deleted when you delete a period entry or your account.
- Prayer data: your friends and group members can see your streaks (for example “prayed all five today”), but not each individual prayer you missed or Qada you owe.
- Phone number and chosen city are never shown to others.
10. Who can see what
| Visible to | What |
|---|---|
| Everyone who searches for you | Your name, username and character (adults only; children cannot be found) |
| Your friends | Your name, character and streaks |
| Members of groups you join | Your name, character, streak, contributions and messages in that group |
| Only you | Email, phone, city, cycle data, trips, Qada, notifications and coin history |
| Our administrators | Account details and activity needed to provide support and keep the service safe. Administrator actions are logged. |
11. Keeping and deleting data
We keep your data while your account is open. You can delete your account yourself in the app (Settings → Delete my account) or on the web (Profile → Delete my account); you will be asked for your password. See also how to delete your account.
- Deleting erases your prayers, streaks, Qada, adhkar, dhikr, cycle and trip records, bookmarks, friends, group memberships, messages, notifications, push tokens and support messages, and removes your name, email, phone number, character and password. The empty account shell remains so that groups you belonged to keep working, and it appears as “Deleted user”.
- Database backups are kept for up to 14 days and are then overwritten, so deleted data can remain in a backup for that long.
- Crash and usage data held by Google follows Google’s own retention periods (typically up to 90 days for crash reports).
- We may keep limited records when the law requires it or to prevent abuse (for example that an account was closed).
12. Security
Connections to our servers are encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are stored as one-way hashes and never in plain text. Access to our servers is restricted, administrator actions are recorded, and sign-in attempts are rate-limited. No service can promise perfect security, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us if you suspect a problem.
13. Where data is stored
Our servers are in the United States, and Google may process data in other countries. If you use Jannah Streaks from elsewhere, your data will be transferred to and processed in those countries, which may have different data protection laws from yours. We use the safeguards that apply to the services we use.
14. Your choices and rights
- Access and correct: most of your data is visible in the app, and you can edit your name, username and phone number in Settings.
- Delete: delete your account yourself, or ask us (section 17).
- Crash reports and usage numbers: switch off in Settings → Help us fix problems.
- Ads: use Settings → Ad privacy choices (where shown) and your phone’s advertising settings.
- Notifications: switch off in the app or in your phone’s settings.
- Your rights by law: depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK GDPR or California law) you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or move your data, to object to some uses, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Contact us to use these rights.
15. Website and web app
This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. The web app stores your sign-in token and your display choices (theme, language) in your browser’s local storage so you stay signed in; logging out removes the token.
16. Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date above and tell you in the app or by email before the change applies where the law requires it.
17. Contact
Questions, requests or concerns about your data: contact Checkmate Technologies (Pvt) Ltd through checkmatetechnologies.net, mentioning “Jannah Streaks privacy” and, if relevant, your username (never your password). We answer within a reasonable time, and no later than the law requires.
